(Croton Falls, NY): Following a mass shooting last night in Lewiston, Maine, The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus’ Executive Director Andy Pelosi issued the following statement:

“Our first thoughts go out to the families and friends of the victims in Lewiston after last night’s horrific mass shooting perpetrated at two different locations by a lone gunman reportedly armed with a military-style assault rifle. With the murderer still at large, schools and colleges are closed and people are sheltering in place. As we continue to see on a daily basis, nowhere in America is safe from a mass shooting. Why do we continue to allow the gun industry to profit off the injuries and deaths of over 100 Americans every day? Does the 2nd amendment “right” truly trump the rights of Americans to live free from the threat of gun violence? Those state and federal officials who are beholden to the support of the gun lobby and gun industry are complicit in these deaths in Lewiston and elsewhere. We implore them to abandon the gun lobby, to join us and to act for real gun reform in this country, including, but not limited to, the banning of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”
